Membership & Obligations

Members of the Order of St. Lazarus are expected to promote the hospitaller, ecumenical, and other works of the Order. In particular, members are obliged to fulfil the tenants of chivalry by protecting the weak, helping the sick and promoting justice. A solemn undertaking to maintain this code is made by each new member before God and the assembled congregation on formal investiture to the Order.

As an ecumenical and chivalrous Order of Knighthood, membership is by invitation only and is an honour granted by the Grand Master H.E. Don Carlos Gereda de Borbón, Marqués de Almazán. Nominations to the Order should not be solicited.
